Face Mask - Nose and Mouth ***NOTE*** This mask is NOT FDA approved for medical use. If you have approved PPE, please use that first. This mask should only be used after. This is a remix/refactoring of the original Face Mask (v1) by lafactoria3d (https://www.thingiverse.com/lafactoria3d). The mask has been changed for better breathability, added spacing for filter placement, support for filter material, modified cap fitment to mask, thicker walls in some areas, reinforced some sections, increased thickness of cap, re-anchored strap attachment points, etc. DOES NOT INCLUDE FILTER MATERIAL - The space between the mask and cap (0.7 mm) allows for varying thickness of material while still providing a seal. Glue stick, outline spacer, silicone bead, etc., are all possibilities if you feel the need. None of these suggestions are proven in a "hood test".
Using PLA to Print:
You can heat the edges of the mask in near-boiling water (190 F) to soften the plastic. When you take it out, you will only have a few seconds before it stiffens again so it may take a few tries. Using hotter water or a heat gun would work, but then it would likely be too hot to place on your face. Do not heat over 350 F as the plastic will start to melt. If the edge that contacts the face is too rough for you, you can use very fine grit sandpaper to smooth them.
Straps
Use 1/2" elastic straps (you can cut down wider elastic if smaller is not available, corded elastic is easier to cut straight lines with) (attachment holes are smaller than 1/2" but elastic will fit through). Wider straps feel better on the face and head. Elastic straps are getting harder to find. This design allows you to use any type of 1/2” material for the straps, and the adjuster pieces will allow for tightening the mask. *Please read the "3D Face Mask" document included for more information. # UPDATES - 04/06/2020 - • Added smaller strap for 1/4” and 1/8” straps - 04/12/2020 • Mask v2 - Increased grid height for sturdiness • Added several cap designs as requested by a user (thank you Natalie Nguyen for the ideas) • Updated ‘3D Face Mask.docx’ • Mask v3 - Modified the attachment points for larger straps. Sizes up to 1/2” (13mm) will fit easily now - 04/14/2020 - • Customizable Cap - Added a blank mask cap so you can customize the opening • Fixed error with Mask v3 in part of attachment piece that did not look right on mask - 04/15/2020 - • Mask v3.1 - Fixed position of attachments near nose to hopefully fix any drooping
**Note:** I have not had time to test print all the caps as I only have a couple working printers and they are making mask sets 27/7. If you do try them, please let me know how they do.

Print Settings
--- Use the following when printing the Mask Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 20% (Gyroid works best) --- Use the following when printing the Mask Cap Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 50% (Gyroid works best) --- Use the following when printing the Strap Adjusters (need 4) Resolution: 0.1 Infill: 100% (makes it a solid piece)
