Face Mask Quick Release
thingiverse
This is a rapid release designed specifically for use with the COVID-19 V2 face masks and their numerous remixes. I've employed this clasp for over a week now, giving me confidence to share it on Thingiverse. If you're like many others who have to wear a mask all day at work, you'll appreciate being able to unfasten it quickly when needed. Who hasn't experienced the inconvenience of having to drink coffee, eat a snack, blow their nose, or deal with an unexpected sneeze while wearing a mask? One thing that's struck me is how different elastic straps behave over time - they tend to lose tension after just a few days. Unable to find regular nylon straps thin enough for my fasteners, I experimented with using string found everywhere. Decoy string worked well, so I remixed a locking drawstring clasp. The original design can be found here and it's the smaller of two clasps. The mask pictured is one that I modified from this source and incorporated a built-in exhale valve. It's very comfortable to wear throughout the day at work. I hope this quick release fastener proves useful for you.
