Face Mask (for subways and small areas)

Context: I'm a bit late to the game but i just moved back in NYC and I need to use the subway for travel. While normal face masks are fine, I wanted to breathe a bit more strategically. I was about to modify a dollar store snorkel but this looks nicer: The face mask itself is taken from an existing model of an N95 face mask from the Barrow Neurological Institute the link will be below. The Mask Itself: The respirator takes in air from directly above you and front the door flap allows you to efficiently push out CO2 from the mask. The caps over the tubes where air goes through can screw on/off if you'd like to put cloth or some other filter inside the mask. I printed the front door and original mask using flexible material. and the respirator and respirator caps out of PLA plastic. WARNING: Using elastic material to print the original face mask will leave a lot of wholes and deformations along the nasal canal and bottom jaw. I recommend to apply a coat of hot glue resin to plug any air leaks. If you're going all plastic, may I recommend the use of craft foam along the rim and inside of the face mask to make the experience marginally less uncomfortable. Reasoning & Research: The general consensus, according to most online articles, is that the virus travels through the air via microscopic water droplets that eventually hit the floor (It does not move upward but downward). This should mean that the air over your head should be relatively safer to breathe (unless your short sorry). This should help in small room and train cars where the water vapor may travel around a lot at face height.
