Fabrikator Mini base w/integrated Raspberry Pi B+/2/3 case
thingiverse
I really disliked the blocks that came with My Fabrikator Mini v1.5 and prefer adding a Raspberry Pi on all my printers because I strongly dislike having things tethered to my computer. After failing to find anything exactly what I wanted, which combined both features, I decided to make my own. Some of my design ideas are based on CallJoe's base, ELProduct's base and possibly others I'm forgetting. That was then combined with my Raspberry Pi 2/3/B+ v2 case. In theory, the base should also work with earlier versions of the printer, but I've only tested it on a v1.5. It fits snugly enough on my Fabrikator Mini that I can pick up the printer and the base comes with it. However, it's still loose enough it's easily removed when I want to get to the bottom for some reason (e.g., adjust Z). While the PI's cover should fit just fine under the printer, it should be noted I haven't printed the cover yet due to a lack of motivation, so haven't actually tested it. The case/cover combo has been used together for other things successfully, so it's really just a question of confirming clearance under the printer. Print Settings Printer: Nova Labs BG8 Prusa i3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 22.5% Notes: My printer is green, so I printed the base in Inland Green PETG at 245C and 85C bed temperature. 45mm/s, 1.2mm walls (0.4mm nozzle x 3), 1.2mm top/bottom, 0.3mm bottom layer, 0.2mm all others, 22.5% infill. It turned out perfect. Post-Printing As far as assembly goes, I used some M3x20 button head machine screws to attach the RPi cover to the base when I assembled the original case. Some #4x3/4" SAE sheet metal screws probably would work as well.
