To secure the fans from the top, M4 screws are used, allowing them to form their own threads into the holes as they are screwed in place. Each corner features a 2mm lip that enables the fan to key into position, although some finesse may be required to achieve a perfect fit. This design accommodates various fan sizes, including 50mm, 60mm, 70mm, 80mm, 90mm, and 120mm, making it easy to repurpose recycled PC case fans rather than purchasing new ones. By doing so, users can avoid overspending on high-end fans, such as the $25 120mm model. For smaller fans, a #6 flat head sheet metal screw measuring 3/4" is recommended, while larger fans require a 1 1/2" or M4x15/M4x30 screw. Notably, the Mini 1.5 printer has been successfully paired with a 12V 70mm CPU fan, which operates quietly and efficiently.
