This is a demonstration piece that shows how printing can be done directly onto fabric, a concept inspired by Cubify.com's Fabricate store. After printing is complete, the printed item can easily be sewn onto clothing. Print Settings Rafts: Any configuration will work Supports: Same result will occur regardless of selection Fabric Printing Technique Overview: To successfully print on fabric, it's necessary to sandwich it between two layers of print. The holes in mesh fabric ensure that the plastic adheres firmly to the layer beneath, while also keeping the printed item attached securely. Unfortunately, printing directly onto clothing produces poor results because the plastic fails to stick properly. Additional Materials Required: Mesh Fabric Instructions: 1) Begin printing the design. 2) Pause the print process after only one or two layers are complete. The vast majority of printers can be programmed to pause the print job, allowing you to remove the print head temporarily. On a Makerbot, go into the menu and select "Change filament" which automatically pauses the print job and removes the print head from its path. 3) Carefully lay mesh fabric evenly over the print job. Use either clips or tape to keep the edges securely in place while the printing continues uninterrupted. 4) Resume printing. 5) Allow the process to finish completely, then sew the item into place as needed.
