This innovative chair can be crafted from materials such as corrugated cardboard, plywood or acrylic sheets. The design requires vertical layers that are either glued or screwed together. Thicker materials will require fewer layers for assembly. To create this chair, access to a Shopbot or laser-cutter is essential. Look for a local fab lab or tech shop that offers these services. If you have a Shopbot, use the file called "fab_academy_chaise_complete.ai" after converting it into the correct format. For laser cutters, utilize separate files designed for a 24x12 inches cutting bed. I plan to test this design on a Shopbot in June 2012 and will continue refining it for optimal performance.
