F949 Parachute Basket with Built-in Servo Release
thingiverse
I designed and 3D printed a parachute basket that securely attaches to the hatch of my WL Toys F949 3CH Cessna RC plane using a similar design to my SQ11 camera hatch (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2602216). This is part one, showcasing the success of the design. Update: I've added part two at https://youtu.be/k1H8yCThmTk, demonstrating how to create a better parachute and utilize a LEGO minifigure. The entire design was created in TinkerCAD. To 3D print the basket, you'll need to use full supports. The servo horns are quick and easy to assemble, but I recommend using .1mm for a tighter fit. For those interested, the plane can be purchased on Amazon at https://amzn.to/2FaQbeN or Banggood at https://www.banggood.com/custlink/KvKKYymq7R. A programmable remote will greatly enhance the trigger experience: I highly recommend the T8SG at https://amzn.to/2C0dmW4 or https://www.banggood.com/custlink/mvmvDwS9Uz, or the Flysky FS-i6 Tx at https://amzn.to/2RwOj6F and https://www.banggood.com/custlink/GKDmEEKUfJ. Additionally, you'll need a 1.9g or 1.7g servo: I recommend checking out https://amzn.to/2AwP8Tj or https://www.banggood.com/custlink/GKmGyhGku5 for options. For the parachute itself, check out https://amzn.to/2C4LoZd.
