thingiverse
The Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor is a stealth fighter aircraft developed by the United States in the late 1980s to replace the F-15 of the US Air Force. Originally designed for air combat, it also capable of conducting military support missions on the ground, electronic attack or electromagnetic origin intelligence gathering. Lockheed Martin is responsible for most of the aircraft, including its armament system, and ensures final assembly. Boeing's defense division has provided the wings and rear fuselage and integrated avionics. The aircraft was referred to as F-22 or F/A-22 before entering service in the US Air Force in December 2005, officially adopting the designation F-22A; however, it is more commonly cited by its nickname, the F-22 Raptor. The United States considers the F-22 a strategic element for maintaining the air power of the US Air Force, claiming that it remains unparalleled by any existing or developing fighter aircraft. In April 2009, the US Department of Defense proposed, with Congressional approval, ending orders and purchasing 187 F-22 examples, while the Senate and House adopted a budget bill in July 2009 halting all funding for its production.
