F20 Mask Adapter Respirator

I got the idea of combining the mask design from a university in the USA (can't remember which, if you know let me know) with my unused CPAP mask. This design incorporates a Bacterial/Viral filter, which are normally used inline with a CPAP mask and tube. The filters I used utilize Hudson 1605 filter technology, which are apparently 99.99% effective and hydrophobic. I purchased mine from Independence Australia for $2.95 AUD. This adapter will work with any ResMed F series mask (including F30i but it might be a bit uncomfortable on top of your head). It is my understanding that these filters can be used until the airflow is restricted, making this quite economical and environmentally friendly. The wide end of the part fits over the lip where the elbow would normally lock-on to. The narrow end slips inside the wide end of the filter. After assembly, testing for seal should be done: Negative pressure test - seal the end of the filter with your hand and inhale, listening for any leaks and seeing if the pressure changes after you stop inhaling. Positive pressure test - seal the end of the filter with your hand and exhale, listening for any leaks and seeing if the pressure changes after you stop exhaling. It would also be possible to use this as a hose adapter in a pinch. ***I am not a medical professional and this information is provided for educational purposes.***
