The F-15 Eagle, an American twin-engined tactical fighter aircraft, was designed by McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) to secure air dominance in all facets of aerial combat. In 1967, the US Air Force chose this design from McDonnell Douglas to meet its demand for a dedicated air-superiority fighter. The aircraft's maiden flight occurred in July 1972 and it was commissioned into service in 1976. With over 100 victories and zero losses in aerial combat, the Eagle is considered one of the most successful modern fighters; Israel's Air Force has achieved the majority of these victories.
