F1 in Schools: Model F1 car

thingiverse

I built this F1 model in 2011 to compete in an F1 in Schools tournament, where I gained valuable experience from the project. This particular design took top speed honors at the Western Cape region of South Africa. However, it didn't participate in any other events. Here's how it works: The car is placed inside a shute with a guide wire running along its underside. A CO2 canister is inserted into the rear of the car and punctured, propelling the car forward. The car's body was originally machined using CNC technology, while only the aerodynamic component was 3D printed using a resin-powder-bed printer.
