F1 Grenade, 1920's-1940's

A functional replica of the earlier, more angular version of the F-1 grenade with a Koveshnikov fuse, designed in full scale to serve as a prop suitable for WW2 impressions. The Soviet F-1 was based on the French Fusante no 1 grenades that imperial Russia received as aid during World War 1 and the civil war. This native Soviet fuse started it’s service in the mid 1920’s and their use seem to have stopped shortly after the second world war due to being replaced with the simpler UZRGM. Two variants of the fuse are included, where "A" is a simpler variant and "B" is a version with slot for a second sprint to prevent the spoon from fully detaching from the grenade. Why this was a desired feature is a bit unclear. I chose to split the body vertically for printing as it reflects the casting seam seen on the originals and makes sanding layer lines easier. If you prefer to print it any other way, an undivided version of the body is included. Out of necessity the spoon is slightly thickened to be more rigid. For assembly, combine the two body halves and the dummy plug using your choice of glue and short pieces of filament as alignment pins. Attach the spoon perpendicular to the fuse cap and insert a spring (around 9x19 mm) into the cap to simulate the fuse's function. For most accurate appearance, cover the body after assembly in thick olive green paint. The printed split pin should be replaced with a metal one if it's meant to be reused.
