The 2011 Formula One World Championship was won by Sebastian Vettel and his team Red Bull Racing-Renault. This championship was completely dominated by Sebastian Vettle driving the RB7 designed by Adrian Newey. From his win at the opening race in Melbourne to his eleventh victory of the season at the historic first Grand Prix of India, he led the standings from start to finish, setting a record 15 pole positions on one season. Vettel was crowned champion four races before the end of the term, finishing third at the Japanese Grand Prix, becoming at 24 years and 98 days old the youngest double world champion in the sport. With help from Mark Webber (one win, ten podiums), Red Bull Racing defended its constructors' title. The only team to challenge them was McLaren-Mercedes, which finished second in the constructors' championship. Jenson Button, thanks to three wins and twelve podiums, was Vettel's closest rival in the drivers' standings, 122 points behind.
