F Mount Lens Cap
prusaprinters

As was the reason behind my front lens cap design, I had acquired a few vintage Nikon lenses that did not come with back caps. Designed this to keep these lenses in the best condition I could. I had a few official caps that were used for base measurements and have iterated a few times to arrive at this version with a better profile. This back caps align with the f mount and twist to lock on the mount. I hope that it can work well for you if you choose to use it.

I do not print with supports BUT I could see were they may be needed. I would recommend trying the print with out supports.

The Fusion 360 source files are attached if you want to customize these with your lens mm on the back. (e.g. 50 for a 50mm or 70-210 for a 70mm-210mm, etc.)

Print process for 2 color cap:

Use the settings in the attached profile. Let me stress that it needs to be printed with a .2mm layer height for the following instructions to apply.

The model has the loosen/tighten symbols where it is cut into the part by .2. I do the same when I add text. I add text to the top of the cap and print with that side facing down.

When slicing I have add a color change after the first layer so that the loosen/tighten icons and text stand out.

Additional Notes: I have used PLA for all of my caps and not had any material based issues. I have tried PETG but found the prints a bit more stringy and did not want to risk getting any plastic into the lens mechanics.
