F-86 Sabre
thingiverse
A detailed replica of the F-86 Sabre fighter jet is on display, showcasing its impressive performance in the Korean War. The F-86 Sabre faced stiff competition from the MiG 15, which initially outperformed it, but superior pilot training and cutting-edge technology enabled the F-86 to achieve a remarkably high kill-loss ratio. Exports of an upgraded version of the F-86 were sent to England and Thailand, with Thailand also acquiring the AIM 9 Sidewinder missile system. A Thai-piloted Sabre engaged Chinese MiGs and fired Sidewinders for the first time in combat. Unfortunately, one of the Sidewinders struck a MiG but failed to detonate, allowing the pilot to land safely. The Chinese and Russians reverse-engineered the Sidewinder technology, using it until they could develop their own more advanced missile systems.
