This is a highly detailed model of the F-15C Strike Eagle, Japan Self Defence Forces Aggressor version. AIM-9 Sidewinder and AIM-7 Sparrow missiles are included with the model, as is a centerline tank. The model with arms shown totals 28K polygons. Some limited rigging in Maya for canopy shocks, airbrake, and landing gear allows precise control. Textures include color, specular, and bump maps that enhance realism. A single texture file for the fuselage and cockpit streamlines modifications while maintaining efficiency. Resolution is set at a maximum of 4096x4096 pixels. The F-15 Eagle has a rich history as an American-built all-weather tactical fighter designed to achieve air superiority in combat. It first took to the skies in July 1972, with the F-15E Strike Eagle derivative entering service in 1989 as an all-weather strike fighter. The F-15C/D model is being gradually replaced by the F-22 Raptor, but the F-15E will continue to serve for years due to its distinct air-to-ground role and low operational hours. A significant number of USAF F-15Cs have been retrofitted with advanced AN/APG-63(v)2 AESA radars and are expected to remain in service beyond 2020. The Royal Saudi Air Force has acquired several squadrons of long-range F-15S models, while the Republic of Korea is purchasing upgraded F-15Ks. Singapore has also purchased the F-15SG variant. In the United States, debate rages over whether to modernize or retire the F-15 due to budget constraints and the high cost of replacing it with the F-22 Raptor. Upgrades could include an AESA radar, Joint Helmet-Mounted Cuing System, and low-observable modifications, or even replacement engines with thrust-vectoring models. On September 26th at the Air Force Association's Air & Space Conference and Technology Exposition in Washington D.C., the USAF announced plans to upgrade 178 F-15C fighters with the AN/APG-63(v)3 AESA radar. Additional upgrades, including the Joint Helmet-Mounted Cuing System, are also planned. Price: $79.00 Date added: Aug 06, 2015 Last update: Nov 19, 2015 Product id: 55c3592fccff75b0688b462c
