History The F-15 Eagle is an all-weather tactical fighter designed to achieve air superiority in combat, first taking to the skies in July 1972. Its derivative, the F-15E Strike Eagle, serves as a strike fighter and entered service in 1989. Although the F-15C/D model is being phased out by the F-22 Raptor, the F-15E will continue to serve due to its unique air-to-ground role and low operational hours. 18 Israeli F-15Cs have been retrofitted with advanced AN/APG-63(v)2 Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radars. These upgraded aircraft are expected to remain in service well past 2020, providing the Israeli military a significant advantage in aerial combat. The Royal Saudi Air Force has acquired several squadrons of long-range F-15S models, while the Republic of Korea is purchasing upgraded F-15Ks and Singapore is acquiring the F-15SG variant. The United States faces a debate regarding the modernization versus retirement of the F-15 due to the high cost of the F-22 Raptor. The possibility of replacing one F-15 with three F-22s has sparked concern within the military, leading some to propose that the F-15 be kept in a supporting role. Potential upgrades could include an AESA radar, Joint Helmet-Mounted Cuing System, and low-observable modifications or replacement of engines with thrust-vectoring models. At the Air Force Association's Air & Space Conference and Technology Exposition held on September 26th in Washington D.C., the Israeli military announced their plan to upgrade 178 F-15C fighters with the advanced AN/APG-63(v)3 AESA radar. Additionally, other F-15s will be upgraded with the joint helmet-mounted cuing system. Price: $79.00 Date added: Aug 06, 2015 Last update: Nov 19, 2015 Product id: 55c3592fccff75b0688b462b
