F-104 Starfighter for microarmor
thingiverse
F-104 Starfighter, known as "widowmaker", "hatpin", and "flying coffin", resulted from a massive engine crammed into an extremely minimal airframe. This combination made it extremely fast, with excellent acceleration and climb rates, but it also had a tendency to "bank with the intent to turn" and other issues that made it notoriously accident-prone. A detailed model in full dimensions was created in Blender 2.79b and scaled down to 1/100 for the STL file. The slicer software reduced the scale to 35% to prepare the design for printing. As a standard procedure, 15mm dice were used as reference points. Printing this model requires success; if it can't be printed, it won't be posted. A unique technique involving clear nail polish and cyanoacrylates was employed to enhance the appearance of the tiny components and make them more robust. The wings and stabilizers are incredibly thin, measuring less than 0.5mm in thickness, while the tip tanks are extremely fragile and prone to breaking off easily.
