EZStruder modified for soft filaments & TPE
thingiverse
UPDATE: base4_fixed.STL now includes additional material around the threaded area for enhanced compatibility with the PTC fitting, based on the exemplary work by Singh336. Modified to further enclose the filament and improve the design in several ways: reduce clearances around the idler bearing, increase the force imparted by the spring on the idler lever, realign the idler lever for better contact with the filament, add a feature that can be tapped for a stock PTC fitting (M5x0.8), and raise the filament entry above the idler lever for easier loading. A flimsy adapter is also included to allow the new cold end to be mounted in the original position on an unmodified RoStock MAX V2 or on alextoff's sleek Dual EZStruder Mount, as shown in the image. Instructions This modification represents the third (and now fourth) revision of my initial adjustments that might require a slight change below the idler bearing. The bearing/filament/hob arrangement is correctly positioned; however, there is an interference at the bottom of the idler bearing travel that could prevent the bearing from seating properly against the filament. In this case, only a minimal amount of sanding/cutting is required to alleviate the issue. Care must be taken not to remove more material than necessary. The production version of this item was printed on our uPrintSE using solid infill for durability.
