This is a mod for the SeeMeCNC ezstruder that unlocks its potential to utilize an MK8 hobbed gear and bowden passthrough connector seamlessly. To take advantage of this modification, you'll require an original ezstruder as it leverages the bearing arm provided with it effectively. Alternatively, you could source the necessary components independently but having the starting materials helps ensure a precise assembly process. Furthermore, an E3D (or Prometheus) passthrough connector and an MK8 hobbed gear are indispensable additions to complete the setup. As a result of these changes, the modified gear boasts around 34% more torque than its original MK7 counterpart. Moreover, the incorporation of the bowden tube results in snag-free operation due to its secure passage through the equipment. Following numerous tests, a few drawbacks have been identified: The retaining faceplate designed to maintain alignment can eventually work loose, necessitating the implementation of an embedded nut instead of the conventional thread-through-the-plastic method for greater stability. Conversely, it has been found that excessive spring pressure results in distortion when using one roll of ABS filament at a time. For effective assembly, please follow these detailed guidelines carefully: A closer examination reveals that some screws from the original ezstruder have grown marginally too short following replacement with the upgraded parts, therefore a new supply may be necessary to ensure proper tightening. Replacing the cylindrical element for its aluminium counterpart entails incorporating BSP threads suitable for connecting to passthrough, resulting in greater effectiveness when printing on an advanced FDM setup, yet still allowing utilization of conventional printing processes. One-by-one substitutions govern all required component replacements in this design; it's merely a case of duplicating and reassembling parts in line with their exact originals as detailed originally. Upon noticing that the connector now effectively confines bowden tube descent but runs a high risk of being dragged upward toward hobbed gear placement by creeping tension, reinforce with sturdy adhesive (preferably a robust film of tape like Kapton).
