Ez Arduino Hexapod Robot - Starrley
thingiverse
About Starrley hexapod is an innovative design derived from the Vopal hexapod. Our compact and sleek design reduces print time by up to a significant percentage compared to other hexapods on the market. The board used in our design simplifies wiring and assembly, making it easier for users to set up their Starrley. Additionally, with internal battery charging circuitry, you can charge your battery without removing it from the robot. To control and play with Starrley, you can use either the original gamepad of Vopal hexapod or the rechargeable gamepad designed specifically for Starrley, as showcased in the demo video. Although Starrley and Vopal have different shapes, they share the same functionality. You can refer to the Vorpal wiki for more information on using your Starrley. If you prefer not to use a physical gamepad, consider trying the Android app GamePad from Vorpal Robotics. ### Video Demo * https://youtu.be/245G5_vGQY8 * https://youtu.be/eSkCClbctb0 * https://youtu.be/ou4Yj7jj1K4 * https://youtu.be/h6IrZuumQRY Electronics To build Starrley, you'll need the following components: * A HuaDuino board, compatible with Arduino Nano and featuring enhanced capabilities. This board integrates everything onto a single PCB, making it easier for users to create their own robots. * 12 Tower Pro MG90s or compatible servos, required for movement. * An HC-05 Bluetooth module, set to a baud rate of 38400. You'll need two modules: one for Starrley and another for the gamepad. * A buzzer for sound effects. * A 10K Ohms potentiometer for adjustments. * A 18650 lithium battery, such as the 3000mAh sample unit used in our build. Make sure to connect it correctly to avoid damage. Assembling Notes When assembling Starrley, follow these steps: 1. Initially, Starrley is in a stance position with all servos at 90°. Turn on the robot and let the code adjust the servos to their initial angles. 2. Before attaching the potentiometer cover, turn the knob counter-clockwise until it points to "STOP." 3. Once you've verified everything works correctly, put on the cover and secure it with M2 tapping screws. How to Play Here's how to use Starrley: 1. To enter demo mode, turn the potentiometer clockwise to the position pointing TST label. 2. To control Starrley using a gamepad, pair the HC-05 module in slave mode with the gamepad in master mode. Bring them close together and turn on both devices. Wait for a few seconds until pairing is successful. Battery Charging To charge your battery, connect a 5V power source to the USB port. The LED light will indicate charging status: red during charging and green when complete.
