Eye shield, former Gibson Pharmacy, Hexham
sketchfab
A shield adorns the storefront of the former Gibson Pharmacy in Hexham, Northumberland. Encircling an eye, the shield proudly displays the initials JG, signifying John P. Gibson, a master optician. Founded by William Wilson Gibson, John's father, this pharmacy began operating on Fore Street in 1834. After nearly a century and a half of service, the pharmacy closed its doors in 1978, only to be replaced by a modern shop that has revitalized the exterior with a bold black paint job. The photographer captured these images in June 2019.
