READ ENTIRE SUMMARY CAREFULLY Frames for eye shields used by medical professionals controlling the coronavirus outbreak are in high demand. Hospitals are experiencing shortages of critical protective gear and are accepting donations from the public. These frames assemble with a clear plastic eye visor, produced separately, to serve as eye protection. For assistance producing the eye visor yourself, see this item: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4253817 To get an overview of the production process, watch this video: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7pUFBnvtqs&feature=youtu.be] The following items are critical to producing a usable part: Layer height: 0.3mm is essential for quick production. Porosity of the exterior is of minimal concern since these frames will be wiped down with clorox wipes. Material: PLA is most preferable due to its rigidity, similar materials with good memory/spring back are also acceptable. NO MATERIALS THAT ARE SOLUBLE IN ALCOHOL Set top and bottom layers to 0, this part must be made entirely of wall perimeters. Set wall perimeters to 10 or more to ensure that your printer uses them exclusively. Elephant's Foot compensation: This should not be needed as the bottom (and top) of the model is chamfered for user comfort. Surface finish and smoothness: Please carefully inspect every part and de-burr as needed. Some healthcare providers are working shifts 14+ hours long, their comfort is critical. Less critical features: The part is symmetrical and can be printed on either face. Color is not critical to function but anything that cheers up healthcare workers is good, fun colors welcome! Avoid sanding/scraping if possible as it can produce a scratchy uncomfortable surface. Sterilization: The hospital will assume all incoming goods are contaminated no matter what, and will perform their own sterilization (usually a wipe down with clorox wipes). Feel free to wipe down your prints but it is not completely necessary. Delivery: The specifics of turning in donations are fluid. Please confirm with your local hospital to ensure you are taking your donations to the correct location for drop-off.
