This is a remix of the gyroid infill COPPER3D PLActive antimicrobial filter mesh. As part of final development for the Eye Cu Smile V3 clear mask design. Using a slightly different model and techniques, a mesh with no line of sight and ~100 micron grid spacing has been achieved. This is in line with efforts to make self sterilising aerosol meshes in research instituions globally. This means that this mesh should induce brownian motion to encourgae capture and viral inactivation of even the smallest of aersol particles, however this is unproven and a supposition only. This mesh uses line infill instead of gyroid, paired with a 0.25mm E3D style nozzle. It is more difficult to print than my previous designs. However it should be possible if your printer has the following features: Good dimensional accuracy This was printed on a cheap delta that has recently been serviced so not perfect by any means, but also not broken. Strong part cooling fans The filament must be dried very quickly to prevent lines merging. The stock FLSUN QQS fans and optimised fan ducts ran at 100% to ensure this. A dual drive extruder with decent gear reduction ratio. To extrude tiny amounts of filament at a time. A Bondtech QR was used for this test print and their latest extruder would also be ideal. Not so sure about clone dual gear extruder, may be impossible without some form of gear reduction or large filament hob wheels. Belted extruders such as the voron bowden concept may also work well. Have not tested on anything else. 0.25mm E3D genuine nozzle Tolerances of clone nozzles will likely cause the mesh lines to merge. Buy genuine or the recommended print settings may not work. Cura slicer The settings are specific to cura, may be possible in other slicers if they have the same feature sets. DISCLAIMER The author has no way of testing the capture and inactivation of viral load of the vapor that has passed through the presented fine meshes. Hence, they should not be used where accredited PPE is already available in a professional setting e.g. healthcare. The mesh filter designs are unproven, therefore no guarantee can be provided as to its efficacy to filter viral particles. They should not be used in isolation without the use of proven filter media inline with the meshes. These are unproven concept devices intended to inspire and aid development of FDM printed filter technology and should be viewed as such.
