For a secure and smooth spool setup, I devised a quick-change direct feed system for my Aluminatus TrinityOne with minimal parts and fasteners. The system can accommodate multiple spools and requires only loosening a 4mm socket head screw to change them. It is designed to fit any size spools with holes of any size. Additionally, non-spooled filament can be added quickly by lifting the rod and sliding it on. I plan to create a spool for loose filament in the future. Dual extruder setup will be possible once someone implements it on this printer; simply print more cones and stoppers as needed. The 5/16" smooth rod (approx. 8mm), used in my setup, can be customized to your preferred length. I had a spare one the same length as the top of the Aluminatus. The 5/16" rod allows for easy sliding of the 608 bearings. An 8mm rod should work too. The stoppers utilize M4 socket head bolts and M4 nuts, which press against the inner race of the bearing in the cone without adding friction, ensuring a smooth spool rotation. The bearings used are affordable 608's, easily found at a skate shop for around $12 (I bought an eight-pack). The brackets attach to the top extrusion using M5 x 10mm .08 pitch socket head bolts and T-slot nuts. I printed all parts with 3mm ABS filament, employing these settings: Spool Cone - .3 Layer Height, 20% Infill; Stopper - .3 Layer Height, 75% Infill; Bracket - .3 Layer Height, 33% infill. While my initial bracket print quality was subpar (learning ABS printing), I corrected it using acetone. Once I receive more orange filament, I'll reprint the brackets and post updated pictures. I also plan to add a filament guide for this setup.
