Extrusion Idler Assembly

Extrusion Idler Assembly

This is an extrusion idler assembly I designed to replace the worn idlers on my Ender 3 V2. It should work with any similar motor regardless of whether it's mounted to an Ender 3. This design was to provide a perpendicular force against the filament instead of a levering force in order to get similar behavior with hard or soft filaments. While I use mine on a direct drive bracket, it should work just as well for the stock bowden placement. I printed from CF-PLA but any hard plastic should work just as well. I used supports when printing but they weren't needed outside of the slot for the filament to pass through the arm. Mostly this one is pop it down in the obvious orientation for a good print. Note if you need to squeeze it to load filament, it isn't really designed with that in mind. Once adjusted to a good squeeze, filament pushes in pretty easily so I haven't felt the need to address that. As far the FreeCAD file, take care when making changes. I'm still getting the hang of working with FreeCAD. Some things are cross references through part body variables while other things are just copy and paste of the same formula. Sorry for that but make no mistake it is very editable in it's current state. Picture was taken with a prototype, the version in the files is what resulted from changes after that iteration. Initially I printed the arm side spring seat separate and welded it on but that was purely a result of procrastination to merge it into the actual arm model.
