extrusion consistency test
thingiverse
I created this setup for testing extrusion inconsistencies with a 0.4mm nozzle to check if every layer's width is identical. To do this, I used the 0.8mm version at a layer thickness of 0.16mm. While not extremely scientific, I thought this method might help others. If all layers have the same length but are shifting around, the issue likely lies with your printer's mechanics slipping or something similar. This test isn't foolproof and you can still experience extrusion issues while getting a perfect result. It's just one useful measure. You'll need a microscope or magnifier to try this. I used a $4 one that worked fine, so don't worry about needing an expensive one. Place the nozzle on the flat side before printing.
