Direct-drive extruder features simplicity with minimal components. It functions independently of drive gear diameter (7-11mm) and integrates motor and drive gear cooling. Compatible with NEMA17 and NEMA23 motors, the extruder is also independent of hotend type and supports filament diameters from 1.5-3mm. Open design files are available in open SCAD format. Optional parts include springs and various hotend and Bowden adapters. Refactored SCAD files and an updated NEMA23 assembly manual are planned, along with a blog, strong nozzle test, and high-speed torture test videos. Print your models at 3D Hubs' Szczecin hub. For NEMA17 installation, you will need components like the stepper motor, drive gear (e.g., MK8), 40x40mm fan, 608 ball bearing, spring, assorted bolts and washers, and nuts. Assemble the parts, adjust the motor position for your drive gear diameter, and enjoy improved printing quality. To handle 3mm filament, drill a 3.2mm hole.
