This Thing is featured on the 3D Printing Today Podcast. http://threedprintingtoday.libsyn.com

This is a derivative of the Thing uploaded by Coldstone.

This thing is meant as an upgrade to the OEM, unsprung feeder parts used in older Flashforge Creators and in the CTC machines This is the spring armed feeder upgrade design first upload by whosawhatsis and redesigned over and over... In this design the lever arms can hold the fluted bearings used by these Rep1 clone makers. In this derivative I have separated the backplates that attach to the stepper motors so that the distance of the hot ends is not fixed and so the user can remove one motor for cleaning and servicing. i included the 2 peg files from Coldstones original upload.

Instructions

I used XT due to it's higher temp capabilities, but ABS should be OK. PLA... no. The heat from the motors will soften PLA and the lever arms will distort. I tried to add support via Simplify3D... but it seems one can't export the supports into an stl that way. The levers can be printed without support, but they hold the shape better with.

You will need some flat head M3 screws; 2x18mm, 2x9mm and 2x6mm. I use lighter springs due to the aggressive bladded, spur gears used on the stepper motors. These can be purchased at harbor freight or at a larger HW store such as Home Depot.
Category: 3D Printer Extruders
