Extruder Upgrade for Flashforge, and CTC
thingiverse
This Thing is showcased on the 3D Printing Today Podcast available at http://threedprintingtoday.libsyn.com. This upgrade design is derived from the original Thing uploaded by Coldstone for Flashforge Creator and CTC machines' OEM, unsprung feeder parts. The spring-armed feeder upgrade initially designed by whosawhatsis has been redesigned in this derivative, accommodating fluted bearings used by Rep1 clone makers. The backplates attached to stepper motors are now separately printed for adjustable hot end distances and easy servicing. Coldstone's original upload included two peg files, which are also incorporated here. For printing, use XT or ABS due to their higher temperature capabilities, avoiding PLA due to its susceptibility to distortion from motor heat. Although levers can be printed without support, they hold shape better with added supports via Simplify3D. Assemble the parts using M3 screws: 2x18mm, 2x9mm, and 2x6mm. Lighter springs may be necessary due to aggressive bladded spur gears on stepper motors, available at Harbor Freight or Home Depot.
