Extruder Stepper Motor Rotation Indicator Visualiser / Visualizer - Scotland Flag / Scottish Saltire
thingiverse
I wanted to add a rotation visualiser to my Prusa MK3S printers, but didn't fancy any of the designs already out there. As a proud and patriotic Scotsman, I thought I'd show off my country's flag while 3D printing! First, make sure you use PETG so that the plastic doesn't soften due to the stepper motor heat. Next, attach neodymium magnets to the visualiser using superglue, roughing up the mating faces with sandpaper first. I recommend using 8mm x 3mm magnets. You may get away with one magnet, but clearance can be tight, so I often find that you need a space (STL included) or two magnets glued in a stack works well...or you could use 8mm x 6mm magnets and save on glue. Prusa Slicer or Prusa's Colour Print tool are the easiest way to switch colours. For those methods, assuming you're using 0.1mm layers, add in the following colour change points: Layer 1: Black First change: Layer 13 / 1.40mm : White Second change: Layer 16 / 1.70mm : Azure Blue Third change: Layer 21 / 2.20mm : Black Happy printing!
