An interchangeable Extruder Die system engineered to fit perfectly into a NorthStar Clay Extruder. The Die Base dimensions are precisely measured at 110 x 110 x 11mm, fitting snugly inside a chamber approximately 89mm across (3.5 inches). Printed with PLA, the base features 20% infill and the inset boasts 25% infill. To securely suspend the inner part of the die in place, two 1/4 x 4 inch bolts are used. Before inserting the bolts, drill out the holes in both the base and inset parts using a 1/4 drill bit to ensure a tight fit, preventing the die inset from moving around while extruding. To create your own custom inset die, utilize the Inset Template file or modify it on TinkerCAD. Some of the other dies currently being developed on TinkerCAD include Die Variations, which have not yet been thoroughly tested. Print Settings: Printer: Oni H-Bot Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 20% for Base, 25-30% for Inset Notes: For optimal printing results, consider printing the Die parts upside-down to maintain a clear, sharp edge at the bottom of the die. If printed in the conventional manner, this edge may require cleaning and lose its definition. This design is part of ongoing research exploring innovative ways to combine 3D printing with ceramic media. Initially designed as solid 3D printed parts, this system aims to reduce production time and material usage for creating new dies. The parts were initially created in Rhino and later recreated in TinkerCAD.
