Extruder Re-locate
thingiverse
I designed this part so it can be moved to shorten the bowden tube and adjust the extruder. The part prints flat without any supports, but it had to be placed on the bed at an angle since it was near the edge of travel with the skirt. The part is engineered to slide over the X-axis extrusion and attach in place using the outermost two screws for the X-axis stepper. To mount the extruder motor, 6mm screws are required; leave those screws loose until the rest of the stock extruder parts are attached to the bracket. Then push the motor tight to the extruder assembly and tighten it in place. The original 38.5mm center distance did not work for me, so I added slots to the part. For the bowden tube, a starting length of 500mm is recommended; cut it to fit. I secured all the wires to the bowden tube with zip ties and created a cable clamp (a strip cut from a pop bottle) that was mounted to the extruder pivot screw. Almost forgot to mention: The small extruder gear's screw needs to be replaced with a 3mm set screw to clear the printed bracket. 6/11/17 Update: I added another bracket designed to support a belt drive. This setup requires GT2 pulleys with a 60-tooth and 16-tooth count, along with 5mm bores. For the belt, an 79-tooth GT2 x 6mm belt (available through sdp-si.com) is being used; I think an 80-tooth would work as well. As a starting point, set the steps per mm for E to 538.2.
