Extruder Knob / Dial

Extruder Knob / Dial

thingiverse

I made this for my D-bot build's extruder motor, but it may be of use to others, so here it is - a knob (or dial) for your extruder stepper motor. Probably only useful for Bowden extruder setups since the shaft of most direct-drive extruders is not accessible. This thing was inspired by cfeniak's Stepper motor feed knob (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:474394). I liked the design, but in use, my fingers would slip off the spoke when trying to "spin" it - so I did my own version in OpenSCAD and enclosed the spokes. Now I can really move the filament when I need to. (Being careful, of course, not to blow my driver by spinning too fast.) [EDIT] Added a version with a slightly smaller outer diameter to provide clearance when used with my D-Bot X/Y motor covers. Print Settings Printer: Prusa i3 MK2 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: I printed at 0.20 since the round-overs need finer resolution Infill: I used 100% for strength. Lower infill percentages will likely work fine since the model is so small, you'll end up getting 100% anyway. Notes: This is sized for a 5mm stepper motor shaft with a "D" profile - that is most every stepper motor for 3D printers.
