Extruder/hotend demo set
thingiverse
I adapted this remix from thing:147705 to fit my 16x5x5mm (625ZZ) bearing, splitting the idler into two parts for added ruggedness with a metallic axis. This project isn't designed as part of an actual 3D printer; I use it in my demo set instead. The hotend piece is an old leftover from my Prusa i3 mk1, and I employ it to test and clean nozzles. An Arduino Mega 2560, a cheap Ramps shield, and Pronterface software control the system. The SCAD file is somewhat disorganized due to its origin as an extruded dxf file, combined with my rough cutouts. To provide better support for the bearing axis, I split the original idler in two parts. The two halves are secured during assembly by internal pins and held together by a hinge (M3) on one end and a M2 screw on the other. The bearing axis is secured by a tight M5 screw (12mm).
