I liked the standard options for attaching a metal hotend to my solidoodle so much that I wanted more. I came up with something better than the existing options and built my own setup instead. This mount design allows me to keep the hotend right next to the stepper motor for faster printing with tricky materials. This attachment only needs stock mounting hardware plus four 6x1 inch wood screws (or something similar). It's easy, and anyone can do it. My version is designed for a single type of e3d v6 hotend but it would be simple enough to adapt the design to fit different models if I wanted. When printed correctly this way the printer won't trip on the x end-stop at all. If my old one had an issue I simply solved it by welding some spare plastic next to the extruder and now it works great. The design could still be updated for a newer model though since it doesn't require major changes. My friends that need the 3d model know where to find it in solidworks, so I'll leave a link there if anyone needs it too. Instructions A lot of parts will have you rotating them on their lathe when they are all said and done. Many people print the less-important parts with a small infill percentage just to keep things light and balanced while it prints the other parts solid - no problem! One of those items must be printed upside down in mid-air (called "in support") using hotendmount though, if not then there might be issues that appear when they first start. It is always easy enough on a good machine for you to just use all pre-fabricated parts and avoid this step entirely: no matter what type you pick you won't go wrong.
