Extruder Camera Mount

Extruder Camera Mount

Have you ever wanted a better view of your extruder while it's in use? I tried out numerous camera mounts, and they all had the same major problem. While their views looked good for most things, it was really tough to spot some print errors. I designed this mount to get up close to the extruder head so you can see the filament being laid down, as well as a bit of what's already been put down. Check out how it works. You'll notice there are lots of files here for a simple camera mount - four parts will do the job. The camera case is designed for a Logitech c120. I've got an i3 clone, but this mount is pretty generic, so you can use it on other models or get different views. As long as you have at least one 30 mm hole, you're good to go. For my i3 clone, the mount is along the front section with (or without) the stock fan. Use camera mount 1 and/or camera mount 2 (with or without balls) as your base, and then add any number of ball clips for extra length and articulation. The camera clip should fit snugly around the camera housing. If possible, make a custom housing with a 10mm ball on the back to click into the current sockets. My setup uses camera mount 2, one ball clip, and the camera case. **Print Settings** * Printer: Monoprice MakerSelect v2 * Rafts: No * Supports: Doesn't Matter * Resolution: 0.4 * Infill: 20% * Notes: A few parts will print better with supports on the camera back, and the non-ball version of mount 1. **Post-Printing** Pressing a ball joint together goes smoother if you lightly sand the joint with 1000 grit paper first. I used a small quick clamp to press them together while keeping it aligned. **How I Designed This** Links to edit files in Tinkercad: * Mount 1 * Mount 1 w/ Ball * Mount 2 * Mount 2 w/ ball * Ball clip * Camera Clip * Front Case * Case Back
