Extruder calibration tool

interest: calibrate its extruder is crucial, especially when upgrading the machine but not that, it allows that the right amount of filament is extruded for the file to print, and therefore have a good quality of print. attention a reset eprom puts the value back to its origin. WARNING: the calibration of a printer, if it is the only one you have, will have to be done with a caliper, because if this tool is badly printed, you will not be able to calibrate well. Anyway, the tool makes it easier to cut 120mm, during the final measurement, I advise you to do it anyway with a caliper, the graduation is indicative and less accurate. the calibration consists in telling the machine the exact number of "steps" that the motor must make to extrude a determined quantity of plastic. I was inspired by a model that I came across on the net, however, I found it flawed in its use, so I designed my own. the use is simple: 1- insert the filament inside and cut with the pliers the filament flush with the tool 2- we extrude 100mm of filament 3- we insert the remaining in order to measure. the remaining value. the calculation is simple: pitch/mm = (requested extrusion measurement / real extrusion measurement) x old pitch/mm value example: we query the current value of the extruder steps, we send the following gcode : M503 we note that the E value is 495. we proceed to the calibration by marking the 120 mm and by extruding the 100mm requested we measure that we have 23mm left, so we have extruded only 97mm instead of 100 we apply the calculation : Estep = (100 / 97) x 495 Estep = 510.309 so we run this gcode : M92 E510.309 ; Restoration Step Extruder M500; Backup M501 ; Reloading
