An alternative solution to repairing this extruder can be found at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:8830. To implement it, follow these instructions carefully. If you're using the original design for this extruder, the motor will face the y-axis motor directly. However, I rotated it by 90 degrees, which now positions the extruder stepper facing the x-axis idler. This modification allows prints to be taller since the stepper no longer collides with the threaded bars of the Prusa frame.
