Extruder Body with PINDA probe support brace for Original Prusa i3 MK2
thingiverse
I upgraded the original Extruder body with additional support to secure the PINDA probe mount in place. The probe was off-center during Mesh Bed Leveling, leaning at a noticeable angle instead of standing upright. It resembled a precarious tower, teetering on the edge of stability. Further inspection revealed that the mounting tab had warped upward, causing the probe to lose its vertical alignment. To maintain the probe's stability over time and withstand heat exposure, I added a reinforcing brace to prevent any further warping or curvature. This modification ensures the probe remains securely in place, providing accurate readings during bed leveling. When installing the new assembly, note that you can slide the probe through the opening from back to front while keeping the top nut in position. However, if you want to tuck the part cooling fan away as it was originally, you'll need to either disconnect the fan's wire from the circuit board or cut and splice it to accommodate the new design. **Print Settings:** * Printer Brand: RepRap * Printer Model: Original Prusa i3 MK2 * Rafts: No * Supports: No * Resolution: 0.20mm * Infill: 20% **Notes:** For this Hot-end part, ABS is the recommended material due to its superior heat resistance. While PETG can also be used, it may become more flexible than ABS, so I advise against using PLA for this application as it's not suitable for Hot-end parts.
