Extruder Axis Indicator
prusaprinters

This is a fast print, when the heating's done the print is almost finished.

This thing is an extruder axis movement indicator and should work for “enderian” printers with a short extruder axis pointing vertically up.

To get the fine lines printed I had to set Cura to 0,3 mm line width and also select Print thin walls. 0,1 mm layer height and then in octoPrint set the feed rate to 50%. It's still a fast print and weighs 0,18 gr filament.

The extruder axis has a flat side which leaves a tiny space empty and there you can put the mount bit at the bottom of this print in. That goes at least 7mm down on my machine.

Cutting the bottom tip with scissors into a V shape (just a tiny bit!) may help inserting the piece. Have a calm hand and try again.

The stock ender extruder had an axis that stood out a few millimeters, one of the first things I printed an extruder knob with a figure on top to visualize the movements. Then upgraded to a metal extruder with a shorter axis and pushed a tiny end of leftover brim into the spare side of the axis.

This thing here does just that, only looks better than a piece of brim.

Update:

I had designed the thing with a rotation axis from the lowest point (foot) to the highest (hand) but then reveived feedback the lady was bent over and lopsided. Apparently he felt the axis should point to the head instead so I added a second version with 6° turned fixation. (marktfrau_fester_achse_Kopf.stl)
