Hello MiniFactory Sorry it has been a while since I last posted, but I have been busy preparing for my next Comic-Con by crafting my Full Size Optimus Prime Costume. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2791968 I've decided to build the largest Delta Printer ever created. It stands 4 feet 6 inches tall and 34 inches wide And will feature a print area of 450x450x450, give or take 50 mm height. The frame is made from 3/4 inch STEEL Square Tubing, and all print jobs are 100% infill @ .1 or .2 layer thickness, Depending on the location. You'll need 40 feet or square tubing at $26 per foot from a local scrap yard. You'll also need #8 self-drilling screws in various lengths: 1-1/4", 3/4", and 1/2 inch, priced at $6 each. Additionally, you'll require two 8'x1/8"x1 inch aluminum strips for counter swap support, available for $10 apiece. I'm using four 220x220 heat beds, each with its own 33amp power supply and one power supply for the Board and Hotend. These can be sourced from eBay for $14 per unit: https://www.ebay.com/itm/12V-220X220mm-Aluminum-Board-Hot-Plate-Heatbed-Heat-Bed-For-3D-Printer-Reprap-ES/332509925559?_trkparms=ao%3D1%26asc%3D51979%26meid%3Df390b373cefd4d23b696c7d255682d75%26pid%3D100705%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26%26itm%3D332509925559&_trksid=p2045573.c100705.m4780 I used Fireplace Mortar to glue the hot beds to a sheet of 20"x20" 3/16 aluminum sheet. You'll need five standard 12vdc relays, available on eBay for: https://www.ebay.com/itm/6Pack-12V-30A-Fuse-Relay-Switch-Harness-Set-SPST-4Pin-14-AWG-Hot-Wires/253167690800?epid=0&hash=item3af1f86430:g:OMIAAOSwXedZw09k Each relay will have its own fan to keep it cool, and the wiring requirements may vary depending on the specific relay chosen. The Magnetic Effector and Magnetic Carriages can be sourced from: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1584513/#files I've modified the Carrier Carriage rail to wrap around the ¾ inch tubing and prevent swaying. You can use the exciting wheels from your Kossel 800 Delta. This build is a work in progress, so expect items to be added or removed as needed. I built this machine to print large items that my CoreXY printers couldn't handle, plus I've read that magnet mounts create smoother walls and surfaces. Also, I put my CoreXY printers to the test with my 405x305 delta, using the same print jobs, specs, infill, and so on - the Delta printed the part in less time and with a smoother finish than the CoreXY. So I'll be removing all my CoreXY Printers and replacing them with oversized Deltas featuring Magnetic mounts. Project Update 5-8-2018: I've added some more Pictures. Project Update 5-21-2018:I've added more pictures of the End Stops and Hotbed Mounts, along with new Ramps 1.4 boards/LCD units. The LCD/Ramps holder came from : https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1639786 Project Update 5-23-2018: I've added some pictures and new STL files of Fan mounts for each of the ABC/XYZ Towers. If you plan to use 1/4 plywood as the base, as I did, the Nema 17 Fan covers won't work. These new Alt Bottoms with fan support can mount 40mm fans and keep motors cool during long print jobs.
