Extinct Vero Tapir (Tapirus veroensis) Skull
thingiverse
I prepare and maintain the original specimen by contract in Polk County, FL. A photogrammetric model of a specimen comprising the ventral maxilla and palette of an extinct vero tapir (likely Tapirus veroensis) was produced from 32 photographs collected on a dive in late Pleistocene Rancholabrean-age strata from a yet-to-be-named sinkhole locality. The dense cloud generated consisted of 269,275 vertices. The model was refined using Autodesk Meshmixer for smoothing, simplification, extrusion, and repair after being imported from Agisoft Photoscan Pro. As my close-range technique improves, the model will be updated accordingly.
