External SSD Enclosure

External SSD Enclosure

thingiverse

After upgrading the SSD in my computer, the smaller one ended up idle, taking up space collecting dust. I still had a basic USB SATA interface adapter from the SSD that cloned the old drive to the new and worked seamlessly for an external drive; it just lacked an enclosure to house everything together until now. This one was built with clear ABS plastic and secured with M2.5 hardware to hold every component in place. The screws were 6mm long but could have been shorter since they don't play a structural role; 4mm might be sufficient, considering the design. There is some minor clean up work required for the screw holes, as well as tidying up the nut captives with a small file. The SSD cutout was created using a font from http://www.fontpalace.com/font-details/7th-Service-Condensed/.
