External small Filament spool support

External small Filament spool support

Here is what I made to support spools with my FABtotum, since my existing spools are larger than the enclosure provided for FAB filament. I designed these spool holders to accommodate spools of all sizes, connected by a rod (I chose an aluminum rod from a nearby IJEA store), as the bearings used are similar to those in rollerblade wheels - that's what I selected since they're easy for me to manage. The connecting rod is engineered with a diameter of exactly 9mm. Update: February 17th, 2015 I've now uploaded the CAD file needed to produce this spool holder set - try it out! To make this piece you'll need two sets of matching pieces to connect them together and one additional support as depicted in my illustration. Don't forget to double that number if you're going for a design with supports! For the connecting rod, anything measuring exactly 9mm across will suffice. As for bearings, go with roller skate-style 608zz bearings - they should be easy enough to get your hands on at a nearby sports goods shop
