External PCI Riser Enclosure/Expansion Slot Case
thingiverse
This is a box to house an external PCI-E to PCI riser that is passing data over a USB cable. It is designed for one of these: * https://www.aliexpress.com/i/32781713997.html and lines up with the screw holes on the board when the black bars are removed. I reused the black screws to screw it into the standoffs. *This is not the link I ordered from and I have no experience with Aliexpress. It should be modifiable for other risers, but you'll likely need to move the hole for the USB cable, and maybe the stands that the card screws in to. It accepts a 40mm fan on the top. I used a fan that mounts on the exterior of the case and blows inward. I used small self-tapping screws I had already for the fan, you may want to adjust the hole sizes if you're using different screws. I positioned the fan so it would be blowing across the heatsync on the graphics card I'm using in the enclosure. The graphics card I'm using has a 12v two pin fan header, I removed the shroud around it so I could plug it into the power pins on a three pin fan connector. If not for that I would have soldered a fan connector to the SATA power connector on the riser card. The lid has .25mm gap on each side from the walls of the main box and snaps on/off. I can pick the unit up by the lid when it's on.
