When you have a TV connected to a USB port, an external hard drive can be a lifesaver for recording or playing movies, music, and other multimedia files. Unfortunately, these drives often freeze up, causing them to crash to the floor with only their cable still plugged into the TV. Here's a simple solution that can save you from this frustration: stick double-sided tape on the back of your TV and attach your hard drive there. This will keep it securely in place even when the cables are routed out the bottom of the box, provided your disk has a connector that fits the orientation.
