Exterior Rock Art Panel, Escoural Cave, Portugal
sketchfab
In the Chalcolithic fortified settlement perched above the Escoural cave, an outdoor rock art sanctuary unfolds majestically. As the Neolithic era drew to a close, the Cave itself was sealed off, and its once-pristine space began to take on new life as communities of the Chalcolithic (2,000 BC) made their home there, constructing a fortified settlement alongside a megalithic dome of false dome architecture. This impressive structure stands about 600 meters away from the cave entrance, boasting a circular chamber, a corridor for passage, and an inviting lobby that serves as a gateway to its inner sanctum.
