Extension rack for the Brother KR230 bulky knitting machine
thingiverse
This is an interchangeable extension rack for the Brother KR230 bulky knitting machine that enables users to knit the full needle bed when double-bed knitting. The machine in question is aged and many of these units are being resold second-hand, often without all necessary parts. This was my experience, but fortunately I was able to locate someone willing to lend me this piece so I could create a three-dimensional replica. To print this component, the easiest method is with the 'comb' side facing downwards, utilizing a raft and supports. Although this leaves the surface slightly irregular, removing the supports proves much simpler in this configuration. A more aesthetically pleasing approach involves printing the 'comb' upwards (with a raft and supports), resulting in a smoother top surface, but removing the supports becomes extremely challenging. I have successfully printed this piece using both methods.
